Industrial Company – Case Study 1
The Client
A company specialising in the production of plants for the continuous casting and rolling of ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
The Challenge
Adapt the client’s native .DWG files into content readable by Dotwords technology; translate more than 700 technical drawings from Italian into two languages (English and Polish), produced by the company for a new steel and aluminium processing plant; create translated files in .PDF format.

The Project
The Dotwords team prepared the native .DWG files, adjusting the original layout and creating space for the Polish texts supplied by the client for the bilingual version.
Next, through a software-side intervention by Dotwords specialists that enabled the extraction of translatable content based on the configured settings, a file readable by Dotwords technology was created for the final translation.
After checking that the translations perfectly matched the original, the team proceeded with finalisation of the technical drawings in executable .DWG and .PDF files.
The original plugin developed by Dotwords, which enabled the extraction of the content to be translated, made it possible to export and reinsert the texts without affecting the final graphic layout.
This streamlined the workflow and made it possible to create and share a content database that was extremely useful for the client’s future needs.

Industrial Company – Case Study 2
The Client
An international leader in the machine tool industry, headquartered in Switzerland.
The Challenge
Export technical manuals generated through the client’s authoring platform in .XML DITA format and adapt them to Dotwords technology; translate the content into multiple languages: Italian, German, English, French, Spanish, Czech, Polish, Russian, Hungarian, Slovenian, Slovak, Danish, Norwegian and Finnish; republish the files in .PDF format on the client’s platform.
The Services Provided
Creation of a fully customised workflow: file export and preparation, content management, translation into multiple languages, proofreading, quality control and publication of the final translated .PDF files on the client’s custom platform.
The Project
The client uses an advanced platform for creating and managing text content (authoring). The new system is based on the creation of standard modules (including linguistic variants) in .XML DITA format, which are then automatically assembled into manuals for individual products.
The company gave the Dotwords team direct access to the platform to export the content for translation. Once the files had been extracted from the system, they were converted into a format readable by Dotwords translation technology. The files were translated into different languages depending on the target market. Once translated and proofread, the final manuals, generated in .PDF format, were republished on the client’s platform and made available to its customer base.
During the project, the client was also provided with consultancy services to improve the platform in use. In particular, the team recommended using a graphic layout suitable for all languages. This improvement, which was accepted and incorporated into the process, enabled the client to significantly reduce the cost of localising its manuals.

Insurance Company – Case Study 1
The Client
A leader in the insurance sector.
The Challenge
Translate insurance product information documents from Italian into German for consultation and distribution in the province of Bolzano. Specifically, the project involved translating 15 “life” insurance products (each consisting of at least 3 documents – policy terms and conditions; pre-contractual information document/additional pre-contractual information document; product sheet), plus 1 “car” product and 1 “motorcycle” product. The native documents were .PDF files laid out by an external partner.
The Services Provided
Simultaneous translation of the files by a team of translators using Dotwords technology; text revision; layout checks of the .PDF files carried out by an external partner.
The Project
The Dotwords team translated the native files from Italian into German. Each “life” product was divided into several subcategories, each assigned to a single translator to speed up and facilitate the translation and subsequent revision process.
The content was then aligned with translations previously completed in other languages for the same content and the same client, ensuring consistency and continuity throughout the project.
The layouts were subsequently checked by an external partner before the files were delivered to the client in .PDF format.

Jewellery Company – Case Study 1
The Client
An iconic Italian jewellery brand.
The Challenge
ANDTranslate two commercial documents originally in English (Art of Selling and New Collection) into 8 target languages (Italian, French, Spanish, German, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese and Japanese); deliver all layouts in .PPT format; translate all images contained in the presentations (provided in InDesign format for translation and insertion into the .PPT presentations).

The Project
The Dotwords team translated the native files from English into 8 different target languages. Some files were not editable, so they were made accessible for translation using Dotwords technology.
The .PPT files provided by the client were also integrated with the images, which were supplied separately, translated and inserted into the target PowerPoint presentations.
Translating the images required particular effort from both a technical perspective (due to the need to convert between different formats) and a linguistic perspective, as it involved a transcreation process.
The project manager then handled the editing and finalisation of the files in executable .PPT format.
